School cookery lesson

Schools and Education

Soundbite is committed to developing healthy eating practices, food knowledge & culinary skills.

We offer projects & workshops in a fun & relaxed environment, encouraging team work & communication.

Participants will develop cooking skills, Numeracy, literacy, knowledge of different foods, recipes, local produce and cultural cooking.

School Workshops ( 5 years +)

Times: Workshop sessions can run for a morning , a full day or longer.

Group sizes: Max 20

Cross Arts Projects are also available (food, music, drama and dance), contact Jane for more details

Staff: Jane and her assistant will work with the group ( max 20). We usually ask that one member of staff from the school support the workshop.

All workshops are designed and adapted to meet the schools and communities needs.

What the school needs to proviSchools cookery coursesde:

  • A room with a sink and hot running water suitable for 20 children and 2 Soundbite staff, to work in freely
  • Tables to work on
  • 4 - 6 Electric sockets in the room
  • Reasonable ventilation

Insurance: Soundbite have Public liability Insurance

CRB: Both Jane and her assistant have enhanced CRB checks

Workshop Themes:

Soundbite are very flexible & can provide workshops specific to the schools needs linking with the curriculum and topics the classes are covering or we have a variety of topics you can choose from

Workshops are available to all communities i.e. : young mum's, the elderly, disabled, Young adults ….. Either get in touch through the “Contact us” page of the website or telephone : 01963 23458 and Jane will be happy to discuss ideas and needs further.

Wellington Town Food Festival , Somerset - Children's “Hands On” cookery workshops

Kids Summer Cookery Camp - A 2 day “Hands On” Soundbite cookery activity with over night camping at the Soundbite premises.

Yeovil Trinity Foyer. Somerset -Café project with young residents 16+ years

Shaftesbury Food Festival. Dorset -Using local produce

Dorset Women's Refuge - children's workshop using local produce
